Ryan Samuels joined the Languages Department at St. Paul’s School in the fall of 2013. He received his B.A. from Dartmouth College and his M.A. from Harvard University. For two years between college and graduate school, Mr. Samuels taught all levels of middle and high school Latin at Trinity Preparatory School in Winter Park, Fla. As a graduate teaching fellow in the Department of the Classics at Harvard, he taught undergraduate courses in Latin and Greek language and literature, Latin prose composition, and Greek and Roman history, culture, and literature in translation. Mr. Samuels holds The Joyce and Dietrich von Bothmer Chair in Classics.
At St. Paul’s, Mr. Samuels teaches all levels of Latin and Greek, is an assistant coach of the JV football team, and lives on campus with his wife, two cats, and two classically named bulldogs, Lucretia (Lucy) and Marcus Tullius Cicero Samuels (Tully).
