Hiking, baking bread and supporting the AS Roma soccer team
Dr. Megan Drinkwater joined the St. Paul’s School faculty as Dean of Academic Affairs in July 2023. A graduate of Hotchkiss who earned her B.A. in classics, Phi Beta Kappa, from Cornell and a Ph.D. in classical studies from Duke, she has taught at Duke and Davidson College. She comes to St. Paul’s School from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, where she taught classics from 2006-2023 and served as the department’s chair from 2009-2023. In addition to her teaching and administrative duties, Dr. Drinkwater also served as the college’s Director of the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development. Her committee work included leadership roles on the college’s Faculty Executive Committee; the Retention, Promotion, and Tenure Committee; the Curriculum Committee; and the Committee for Assessing Institutional Effectiveness.
In addition to her own experience as a boarding school student, Dr. Drinkwater draws on strong familial connections in the independent school world in her role as Dean of Academic Affairs. Her brother David graduated from SPS in the Form of 1989; her father and stepmother are both long-serving former heads of independent schools; and her mother serves on the Board of Trustees at Miss Porter’s School.
Dr. Drinkwater is an eager hiker, an avid bread baker and a dedicated supporter of the AS Roma soccer team. She lives on campus with her husband and son.
