Major Brooks earned a B.S. in English literature from the United States Naval Academy and an M.A. in English literature from the University of Maryland in 1988. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years, primarily as an F/A-18 pilot. From 2004 to 2008, he was a master instructor in the English Department at the United States Naval Academy. He earned a second M.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College in 2007.
At St. Paul’s, he serves as Head of the Humanities Department, serves as an athletic coach and adviser, and serves on various committees. Major Brooks holds the George L. Carlisle Chair. He lives on campus with his wife and son.
