Alumni Panel
Dr. Alison Crocker ’02
is an astrophysicist whose research focuses on the physics of star formation in nearby galaxies. A member of the physics faculty at Reed College since 2014, she works on connecting what we know about the gas in galaxies to what we know about the stars that actually form. Alison attended Dartmouth College, then University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. She earned her D.Phil. in astrophysics from Oxford and completed two postdoctoral positions at the University of Massachusetts and the University of Toledo. Alison and her family live in Portland, Oregon.
Dr. Henry Ferguson ’77, P’06,’10
is an astronomer at the Space Telescope Science Institute since 1995 who has been deeply involved in pushing the Hubble Space Telescope, and now the James Webb Space Telescope, to their limits to explore the distant universe. Harry is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Astronomical Society. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his Ph.D. in physics and astronomy at The Johns Hopkins University. He and his spouse, Meg Ziegler Ferguson ’77, live in Maryland.
