1. Complete Our Online Inquiry Form
Let’s make sure you’re in our admissions database so we can keep you updated throughout the application process.
2. Submit Your Candidate Profile
This is the first step in the Gateway to Prep School application. Be sure to do this well before the application deadline.
3. Schedule an Interview
We offer interviews here on the grounds at St. Paul’s School and also virtually from the convenience of your own home. Please note that we require submission of Part 1 of the Gateway to Prep Schools application prior to scheduling your interview.
4. Apply for Financial Aid
If you are applying for financial aid, submit your aid application at the same time as your admissions application.
5. Submit Your Test Scores
Standardized testing is required for all applicants. We accept the SSAT, ISEE, PSAT, PreACT, ACT, and SAT. All tests must be taken within one year of the application deadline.

Students who do not speak English at home are required to submit the TOEFL, IELTS, or the Duolingo English Test. For your reference, most international students score above 100 on the TOEFL, 125 on Duolingo English Test, and 7.5 on the IELTS. Students who have been enrolled in a school where English is the primary mode of instruction for three or more years are exempt from this requirement.
All test scores can be sent directly to St. Paul’s by using the following codes or methods:
- SSAT: 6886;
- ISEE: 300110;
- TOEFL: 2342;
- ACT, PSAT or SAT: Email a copy of your results to admissions@sps.edu;
- State standardized testing: Have your school upload them with your transcripts.
6. Complete Your Application
Finish up your online Gateway to Prep School application. We expect essays to reflect the work of the applicant without assistance, including the use of artificial intelligence tools. Make sure you’ve included all required materials.

All materials should be submitted online through the Gateway to Prep School application. A complete application consists of the following:
- Candidate Profile
- Admissions Interview
- Candidate Statement
- Parent Statement
- Current grades and official transcript from previous two years
- Current English Teacher Recommendation
- Current Math Teacher Recommendation
- Personal Recommendation
- Principal/Counselor Recommendation
- Special Interest Recommendation (optional)
- Official copy of standardized test results
7. Optional Additional Info
If you’re a student athlete, ballet dancer, musician, artist or actor, we encourage you to submit supplementary materials that help you shine.
What to Send
In addition to the requirements listed above, supplementary materials can be submitted directly to the following individuals for consideration:
Actors: Send a YouTube link of your work performing either one contemporary or Shakespearean monologue (maximum one minute), or one song from the American Musical Theater Repertoire (maximum one minute) to Ms. Chloe Otterson, Interim Director of Theater, cotterson@sps.edu.
Artists: Send a PDF or Google Slides link containing 5-20 images of your artwork and 300 words or less on your creative process, artistic background and desire to study art academically at SPS to Mr. Eugene Sarmiento, fine arts instructor, at esarmiento@sps.edu.
Athletes: Send a recorded sample of a recent game or competition to the Admissions Office at admissions@sps.edu. Be sure to indicate clearly which sport(s) you play.
Classical Ballet Dancers: Arrange to take a placement class by contacting Ms. Kate Lydon at 603-229-4689 or klydon@sps.edu. If you cannot visit the School, please send a recorded sample of your work to Ms. Kate Lydon, SPS Dance Department.
Musicians: Send a YouTube link of your work with one or two selections, 6 to 10 minutes in length, to Mr. Orlando Pandolfi, SPS Music Department, opandolfi@sps.edu.
